Expect to see a growing number of helicopters buzzing around Fort Carson and the nearby mountains beginning later this week.
A brigade of helicopters from Fort Campbell, Ky., plan to train at Fort Carson before heading to Afghanistan later this year, according to a statement by Fort Carson.
The training flights by the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division will take place from Thursday through mid-May, the post said. During that time, residents can expect to see UH-60 Blackhawks, HH-60 Medevac Blackhawks, AH-64 Apaches and CH-47 Chinooks flying to-and-from the base.
The soldiers will fly in the mountains west of the base because they’ll experience similar rarefied air in Afghanistan.
Anyone wishing to complain about the noise can call Fort Carson at 719-526-9849.
